On April 23 and 24 2026, LNE organized the 31st annual meeting of the Interdisciplinary Technical Committee (TC-IM). This event brought together 23 in-person participants, representing around twenty member countries, to discuss cross-cutting metrology issues and strengthen international collaboration.

EURAMET’s TC-IM, in which the LNE represents the French metrology network, is tasked with coordinating cross-cutting metrological activities that do not fall under the remit of any other technical committee.

Its main objectives include:

  • Supporting the planning of EURAMET’s research work, particularly in areas that do not naturally fall under the responsibility of another Technical Committee;
  • Developing forward-looking studies on cross-cutting themes of interest to the various Technical Committees;
  • Developing and implementing EURAMET’s strategy for digital transformation through the activities of the "Metrology for Digital Transformation" working group.

The key discussion topics

During this meeting, discussions focused on several strategic issues, reflecting the current priorities of European metrology. Among the topics addressed, the digital transformation of metrology took center stage: for example, European projects dedicated to digital calibration certificates and sensor networks were presented, with an emphasis on their recent progress.

Another key point concerned EURAMET’s positioning on emerging themes, such as autonomous vehicles and nuclear fusion, demonstrating the organization’s adaptation to future technological challenges.

These discussions represent only part of the TC-IM’s work, whose purpose is precisely to cover a very broad scope in support of the other technical committees. This cross-cutting approach makes it a unique and indispensable player within EURAMET.
