Since August 2012, manufacturers of construction products must declare the performance values of the thermal protection products they market in Europe. Thermal conductivity and thermal resistance are the key performances that must be declared. However, the current level of agreement between national reference laboratories is still three times higher than the maximum of 5% allowed in the European Parliament regulations.

Objectives

Develop metrological means to measure the thermal conductivity of non-conductive materials (0.02 W·m-1·K-1 to 1 W·m-1·K-1) in the temperature range from 80°C to 800°C

Definition of calibrated materials in thermal conductivity to ensure the metrological connection of industrial measuring installations

The objective in terms of relative uncertainty is 5% on thermal conductivity
