PhD abstract

This thesis focuses on the design of an optical lattice clock, developed at the LTE laboratory, using a new atomic species for the team: the neutral 171Yb atom. The clock was developed with particular attention paid to its portability. The work includes the installation of a vacuum system, laser cooling stages, and frequency stabilisation techniques, all designed for on-site use and for compatibility with remote frequency reference distribution systems.

Key words

frequency metrology, optical clock, portable clock, cold atoms, ultra-stable lasers.
