The official closing ceremony of the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR) took place on 7 May 2026 in Brussels, in the presence of Maria Cristina Russo, Deputy Director-General of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, and Christophe Salomon of the French Academy of Sciences. The French National Metrology Network (RNMF) was represented alongside delegates from the national metrology institutes that are members of EURAMET, representatives of the European Commission, and the programme's academic and industrial partners.
The SI Brochure is the reference document describing the International System of Units (SI), the only internationally recognized system of units. This new version of the brochure includes changes to the section on non-SI units and updates the presentation of explanatory notes throughout the publication.
On April 23 and 24 2026, LNE organized the 31st annual meeting of the Interdisciplinary Technical Committee (TC-IM). This event brought together 23 in-person participants, representing around twenty member countries, to discuss cross-cutting metrology issues and strengthen international collaboration.
From 28–30 April 2026, the 8th EMN Energy Gases General Meeting will bring together experts, partners and stakeholders for strategic discussions, joint workshops and the 3rd Stakeholders Council Meeting, under the organisation of LNE, LNE-LADG, EMN Energy Gases and the JRPs H2FlowTrace and MetHyTrucks.
During the 23rd International Conference on Radionuclide Metrology (ICRM 2023 – Bucharest, Romania, March 27-31, 2023), Xavier Mougeot was awarded the Hubbell 2023 prize, by the international journal “Applied Radiation and Isotopes” ( Elsevier). This award recognizes an outstanding contribution to the field of radiation science, with the nature of the research being recognized as leading.
The LNE’s MATIS (MATERials for Industry and Society) platform wins the 2023 “Ared Cezairliyan Best Paper Award” which rewards an article considered to be a significant advance in the field of thermophysical properties and which was published in “International Journal of Thermophysics” during the previous calendar year.
On the occasion of the next edition of the International Metrology Congress, which will be held from March 7 to 10, 2023 in Lyon, many researchers from the French National Metrology Network will present their work.
